Celebrating New Year's in Singapore Style

Well, well, well Singapore, I am thoroughly impressed! New Year's here is done in a big way - these guys just simply DO NOT PLAY! As I sit here sipping my champagne on the ocean, I'm surrounded by thousands of excited people swaying slightly to the upbeat house music everywhere. Or, walk twenty feet away and listen to the hundred teenagers singing in wishes for the new year. I will be posting pictures as soon as I can get my camera cord from my still in-route luggage, but believe me when I say you may not have celebrated New Year's properly until you've celebrated Singapore style.

Now, a few quick observations on this lovely island - I've only been here a little less than 2 days, but it's been amazing and frenzied:
1. The food is overwhelming, outstanding and surprisingly cheap. My budget and belly are giving thanks.
2. If you want water, ask for it cold - otherwise, warm water is what you will be drinking my friend.
3. Men look fantastic in "man-pri's" - I cannot believe that just came out of my mouth, but I said it. European men just wear their capri pants in a way that makes it look just damn cool and like maybe all men should get on the manpri bus.
4. My hair is NEVER going to be straight ever again.
5. I love a city that completely embraces flip flops, high heels and converse at the same time and with equal flair. My feet are going to freaking love this place.

Off to celebrate the new year and drink LOTS of champagne.  Pics to follow soon. A big fat I love you and miss you to everyone back home!
